APOLLO
Apollo’s sacred animal — the bull — is an emblem of our Faculty’s tenacity and perseverance and it is these values that members of the Apollo Faculty seek to abide by, pushing through adversity only to emerge stronger from the challenges we face.
The distinguishing yellow that characterises the Apollo Faculty is a striking sight and one that is difficult to miss. Greek god of the Sun and twin brother to Artemis, Apollo represents the vitality and vibrancy that the Faculty strives to embody. By embracing the Faculty motto “Live Loud, Live Proud”, we strive to unabashedly pursue our hopes and dreams and be proud of what we have achieved.
Disclaimer: Some of these events did not take place in 2022 due to safe-distancing measures
Orientation, the first event of the year, allows our new members of the faculty to join forces with their new friends and participate in a series of class activities. From class bonding games to the heart-racing war games, Orientation is a perfect time for C1s to get to know each other, have fun together, and most importantly, showcase your faculty spirit!
Do you hear that catchy music? It must be none other than the music for POP! At the end of Orientation, all C1 students will gather for a faculty dance competition, representing their own faculty. Donning our signature faculty prop, the finger lights, join us in lighting up the night sky with our stunning dance moves together with your new classmates!
Faculty Lunch is way more than just a time for the faculty to eat together. This yearly event comprises not only a hearty meal, but games, beautiful photo booths, and performances by students from our faculty! In 2022, we had the full range of performers, from dancers, to singers and even rappers! Given the magic that we brought to the Indoor Sports Hall that afternoon, it must be obvious that our theme this year was Alice in Wonderland!
As the God of Sun, we aim to spread sun and light even beyond the campus. Apollo is a caring, awe-inspiring faculty and we are always passionate in helping those around us. Faculty CIP is a way for us to do just that! In 2022, we partnered with Migrant Workers’ Centre (MWC) and collected items like hand sanitisers and toothbrushes to be donated. FCIP is a great avenue for our faculty to come together and do good!
Aside from the exciting events we plan for Apollo, the Apollo Faculty Committee also plans several welfare initiatives to lift the spirits of our faculty, bring the faculty closer together and boost faculty pride. For example, Dates with Apollo is an initiative to celebrate commonly overlooked special days, like International Friendship Day, through small but wholesome activities. We even have our own food deliveries under our initiative DeliverMOO, that allows students to order food for themselves and their friends! These initiatives are few among many others that our Faculty Committee plans for our faculty. While they may be small, they definitely give all students a little something to look forward to, amidst our busy school life.
