We are a people of different races, religions and languages united as Singaporeans by a unique culture, a common heritage and a shared identity. We have built our nation together through common ideals and an indomitable spirit.
The theme for National Day Parade (NDP) 2012 is “Loving Singapore, Our Home”. “Loving Singapore” encourages Singaporeans to reflect on what it means to love our country, what we appreciate about Singapore, and how each individual can express our love for our nation. It is an invitation for all Singaporeans to join us on the NDP 2012 journey to rediscover and remember what we love best about our country.
“Our Home” expresses the fundamental reason why we love our country; it reminds us that despite our differences, we all call this island “Home”. It is where we grew up and where our future generations will continue to reside. “Our Home” emphasises the fact that the prospects of the country and her people are intertwined. It reminds all Singaporeans that we have a part to play in keeping this “Home” together.
Taken together, the NDP 2012 theme evokes the warmth and fondness we feel for our country, and the comfort and familiarity of home. A feeling that resonates with Singaporeans from all walks of life, “Loving Singapore, Our Home” calls us to celebrate everything that we love about Singapore this national day.
