Hey, Hwa Chong!

Here’s a message from the English Literature, Debate, Drama and Film Society:

Fairly Odd

Neil Simon’s hilarious farce puts two mismatched roommates together, the neat, uptight Florence Unger and the slovenly, easygoing Olive Madison. After being thrown out of her house by her divorce-bound husband, Florence Unger disappears, toying with the idea of suicide, before appearing right at the doorstep of her best friend’s house. Olive readily invites Florence to move in, believing that a roommate will be the solution to her loneliness. However, it is not long before both realise that even the best of friends don’t make the best of roommates. Within a few days, this mismatched pair is on the verge of mutual murder! Watch the lives of these two women unfold in ELDDFS’s rendition of The (Female) Odd Couple, Neil Simon’s hit Broadway comedy play that is filled with some of the funniest dialogue ever written!

NEIL SIMON is one of America’s best-loved playwrights. He has written 28 plays, many of them long-running hits, including RUMOURS and LOST IN YONKERS. His work has won three Tony Awards, two Emmys, a Pulitzer Prize and four Oscar nominations. Of him, Time Magazine wrote that “if Broadway ever erects a monument to the patron saint of laughter, Neil Simon would have to be it.”
