Latest Happenings!:Athena Faculty Event-GreenWorks!
May 7th, 2009 by HCunite30th of April was an EXTREMELY IMPORTANT day.
Not only was it the eve of labour day,
and the day we chose our very new faculty heads, Wenshan and Hui Ying!
it was the day the ATHENA FACULTY successfully had…
Our 1st official faculty event of 2009!
And also the last organised by the 2008/2009 Athena Faculty Committee.
It was a evening of…
HOT BBQ SMOKE
and COOL ICE CREAM served fresh by our dearest Faculty Committee..
which included Matthew himself!
It was the day the Athena Faculty was present as an entirety.
Besides the food, we crowned our fac prince and princess! Melvis and Kevin hailing from 09S64! Also not forgetting the awesome performance put up by the Athenian C1 B-Boys!
oh yes, and the “Secret Programme” too!
and the day’s events were emceed by our very own Dance ICs, Karlton Pang and Jonathan Quah

You who queued up so patiently for ice-cream!
You who enjoyed the sparkles!
You who danced!
You who cheered!
You who came, and showed support!
As the 2008/2009 Faculty Committee fades into history, and the 2009/2010 Faculty Committee emerges, let us leave everyone with our guiding motto: Sapere Aude, which stands for, Dare to Be Wise.

Apollo’s 1st Faculty Event 2009- We Are Hot (WAH)
April 30th, 2009 by HCuniteIt was the faculty committee’s last event, probably the last for the faculty’s seniors too.
Spacebar, Backspace, Enter, Delete; After looking through photos after photo and desperately excogitating about all the what ifs and should haves, the ferocious yet unsure tiptaps resolved in 3 simple words that would have nicely summarised Apollo’s first event of the year, We Are Hot a.k.a WAH.
Smoked, Memorable. Appreciated.
Smoked, because of the margarine trickling from the satay sticks into our barbecue pits, which we so avariciously platter-ed with. Sticks after sticks, plates above plates, cups into thrash bags; we ravished in our classess and ate to our hearts jubilence because it was a saturday and it was 5 dollars- all of us wanted to make the weekend andm oney worth our while (:
Memorable, because amidst the chicken, mutton , beef, fishballs, sausages and longan dessert, we remembered conversations with our friends. Some new found, others long lost. But most importantly, they were OUR conversations. Yes, no doubt they were nascent exchanges, but it was one of our firsts as a faculty.
Appreciated, for the simple fact that the faculty exhibited a spirit beyond commendable. Highly anticipated games received exceptional participation and above all, regardless of our attire, prim, proper or informal, the faculty arranged themselves into a subconscious state of specialisation, moving benches like metaphorical ants and unconditionally clearing up of excess food and waste from the pits. It was impressive worksmanship, a picture perfect finish for the group of us who not only had fun, but truly embraced the spirit of the event- utter hotness.
And as my fingers race towards the full stop to put this review to rest, I reminded myself that all this would not have been possible without the support of the entire faculty, both teachers and students. For those who came down, fending off the raindrops that palpated savagely on your umbrellas, and having faith in our faculty committee that the event would continue despite the rain, the faculty committee of ’08 ’09 extends our gratitude to all of you.
We once told ourselves to get down and hit the floor. But i guess we all moved on, only to continue moving and shaking to the groove.
Live Loud, Live Proud, that’s how bullboys roll.
