ELDDFS Presents: FOUR!

May 12th, 2010 by CCA PRO

FOUR, a quadruple bill by Hwa Chong ELDDFS, is directed by Mr. Nicholas Perry & Victoria Loke, & will be held on:

21st & 22nd of May
Venue: HCI Drama Centre, Free Seating
Tickets go at $7.

The night will kick off with Sure Thing, a short comedy by David Ives. A typical, everyday conversation between two strangers is taken to new possibilities, with a side of satire & some fantasy to wash it all down. This play gives the phrase “saved by the bell” a very real spin, & stars Loh Yi Cheng & Alyssa Chen.

Manifest is a student-written piece about 5 women doing what women always do: Bitch. Bitching about their weight, bitching about their mothers, bitching about their boyfriends. Just, bitching. This delightful piece will be performed by Jesslyn Chee, Jennifer Yip, Vera Toh, Natalee Ho & Nur Atiqa Asri.

Raςomonac was originally the winning piece at Hwa Chong’s Dramafeste 2006, but is now rewritten with a new cast of Gregory Alva Ng, Kevin Koh, Victoria Loke, Chia Pei Ling, Kevin Lee & Young Yi Yong. The play takes its name from the Rashomon Effect, & is a multi-perspective murder mystery surrounding the death of wealthy tycoon, Richard Kent. Expect the expected from this abbreviated version of Hwa Chong ELDDFS’ usual action-packed ensemble comedies.

The quadruple bill concludes with our SYF piece, The Pardoner’s Tale. This abridged version of the Chaucer classic remains a tale about 3 strong lads on their quest to find Death, but packaged in a bite-sized comedy, tailored for the modern English speaker. But don’t expect it to be put into Singlish. The motley crew is made up of Ng Ming, Akilan Shanmugaratnam, Lei Zeyu, Bryan Chin, Jesslyn Chee, Ryan Mak, Joy Chee & Ephraim Tan.

Send ticket orders & enquiries to elddfs0910@gmail.com, or contact Zoe @ +65 9100 0394. For Hwa Chong students, order forms will be passed to your CT reps, & ticket sales @ the OAC bench will begin on Wednesday 12th May.

Ad Infinitum: Surpassing Limits.

January 25th, 2010 by Orientation Committee

Hey J2s and prospective J1s! Welcome back to school!

Although many of us wish the holidays could’ve been longer, it’s time for a new school year to start, and we hope that 2010 will be a great year for everybody. Last week, we held our very own exciting Open House 2010: Destination Hwa Chong! Various CCAs and student bodies put up their finest to attract more prospective J1s. Even though it’s over, there’s yet another event to look forward to!

In just 2 weeks, on the 28th of January 2010, Hwa Chong will be welcoming the new batch of J1 students into our family! J1s can look forward to a swell week of orientation and kick off their new school year with a bang. The theme for this year’s orientation is AD INFINITUM, which means ‘to infinity’. Breaking away from a trend set by the past 3 years, this year’s orientation hopes that the new J1s will discover their potential and break new ground in Hwa Chong, surpassing their limits and shining as C1 2010.

J1s can look forward to a week filled with exciting events, such as getting to know their new orientation groups (OG) and CT groups through fun (and some wet!) games. Of course, apart from certain highlights such as Song, Dance and Cheer sessions and games like the Slippery Slope, there will also be an all-new War Games style this year – the annual epic sparring as one Hwa Chong. J2s can also welcome their junior classes and build strong junior-senior bonds, and enjoy the showcase of the new faculty dances.

Slippery Slope!

So brace yourselves for one of the biggest events in 2010, and get ready for AD INFINITUM: Hwa Chong Orientation 2010!

P.S. Do keep your eyelids peeled for more Orientation details and updates later today, when the maybe-not-all-new-but-definitely-different HCunite is unveiled!
