(RE)-FLEX – Youth for Causes
August 21st, 2011 by IT Director1. Who we are:
Team (Re)-flex is part of the Citibank-YMCA Youth for Causes 2011 group and comprises Teo Chin, Bingru, Ler Woon, Wilfred and Derborne!!
But our team does not only consist of four people!
We are proud to say that we have a whole bunch of awesome awesome people helping us out as well, namely HWA CHONG SHOOTING CLUB, HWA CHONG BASKETBALL, 道具组 and many other FANTABULOUS INDIVIDUALS who are rendering their support in one way or another!(:

2. Muscular Dystrophy Association of Singapore
Sufferers of muscular dystrophy will experience degradation in their muscles. Many members in the MDAS are unable to even walk properly and require the help of a power wheelchair to travel around. Many of them even require the help of ventilators, in order to take in enough oxygen to survive, as the muscles of their lungs are too weak to function normally. There are various forms of muscular dystrophy and these people require your help and support to lengthen their life span and provide the encouragement they would need. We feel extremely compelled to render help to the sufferers of muscular dystrophy, and hope then you can also lend a helping hand to us to improve the lives of these sufferers.
(Re)-flex understands the vast inconveniences that members of MDAS face and strive to help these unfortunate people to lessen their difficulties, allowing them to be able to live like a normal person as much as possible.
3. Aims and Objectives
a) Raise Funds for Muscular Dystrophy Association Singapore (MDAS)
Currently, there is a lack of funds for MDAS to provide care and support to patients as well as for medical equipments and assistive devices. This project plans to raise $30,000 and all proceeds will go towards MDAS.
b) Raise Awareness of muscular dystrophy for schoolmates as well as the public
We have observed that many people are unaware of the intense pain and suffering muscular dystrophy patients have to endure, or even about the disorder itself. Thus, we feel that there is a need to raise the public’s awareness of the dystrophy.
