On the 1st and 2nd of March, cast, crew and faculty committees of each faculty showcased their months’ worth of hard work in this year’s

Dramafeste 2012

 Instructions: Apply To Face

In its 13th year since inception, Dramafeste, organized by the drama wing of ELDDFS, has proven its wild popularity once again with a full-house audience for both nights’ display of theatrical prowess. Senior, juniors and alumni alike turned up to see what this year’s show had in store, and they were not disappointed.

4 Faculties, 4 Awesome plays, 4 Extremely dedicated casts and crew

Ares – BlackGold

Apollo – Baggage Check

Athena – The Barista

Artemis – Face/Off

Each faculty offered their best and most unique performances – Ares with their outrageously funny and over-the-top theatrics, Artemis with their profound and dark melodrama,  Athena with its whimsical and visually impressive live sitcom, and Apollo with its well-acted and hilariously engaging skit. This culminated in a production full of varied styles which never ceased to impress nor entertain.

Unfortunately, there can only be one winner, so here goes:

Best Actor

Jonas Yap as Fashion Devil

Face Off

I heard sleek moves and deep, husky voices are in this year

Best Actress

Venessa Tan as Jasmine

Baggage Check

Effortless and unbelievably believable, with just the right amount of funny

Best Supporting Actors

Chong Jia Wei and Qin Xiayu as Gurav and Ali

BlackGold

Uproarious, hysterical, well-versed in accents

Russell Hong as Jeeves

BlackGold

Russell acted brilliantly as a billionaire acting as a butler acting innocuous acting- phew, we told you this play was complicated.

Best Supporting Actress

Chang Jie Lin as Valerie

Baggage Check

Hyperactive and insanely energetic, you just can’t look away

Best Set

The Barista

The Barista wowed judges with an elaborate, stage-wide set that evolved throughout the play

Best Script

BlackGold

The crazy antics of its racially/ethnically-diverse characters set fire to the wildly complex storyline

And finally, the climax of judging night. Who will bring home the Dramafeste trophy? The audience roared with cheers and screams as the casts and crew held their collective breaths.

The crowning moment of win went to…

Best Play

BlackGold
